The world of SEO is a very daunting, cloak and dagger underground world; where rules are made and broken. What applies today, may not be applicable tommorrow. This makes it a farily tricky process to froumalte a successful SEO strategy. Granted, we have the hard and fast rules given to us by Google Webmaster guidleins, but SEO has layers. Sometimes, I'd give anything for the old days of SEO, where the rules were simple and things were as clear as a swarowski crystal. so, what I'm going to do today is give my opinion on how best to formulate an SEO strategy based on my experience.
Back in the day, your website's success rate was all down to the cleverly crafted *on-site optimisation tactics that you employed. You tweaked your website code according to Google's guidelines, started a link exchange program and added fresh content. Your website gained momentum in the search engines and enjoyed a number one ranking with minimal effort . This bore fruit in terms of revenue - those were the days my friend, they said they'd never end. Then bham! all and sundry cottoned onto this whole SEO world and it became dirty, competitive and saturated.
Because of the war out there, new search engine algorithms were formed, people got more internet savvy, social media made an appearance and
Google Adwords became popular. These factors all added new dimensions to the world of search (and continue to do so) and simply doing SEO the old school way wasn't good enough. Off site optimisation technques became popular and in today's world, simply employing on site SEO techniques is NOT good enough. We're at the stage now where social media feeds and videos are being ranked! Did we ever think we'd get there? Who knows! One thing I do know is that it's a fairly time consuming thing to try and come up with an effective SEO strategy considering how far we've come! I've written a blog post on how best to tackle the SEO strategy thing from inception to execution. Now that you've delved into the history of SEO and how far we've come, I think you're ready to read my blog post about how to formulate a great
SEO wireframe and strategy.
